Music Theory Class
Today, we did a rehearsal for our music practical exam. At first, 1 volunteer per group was chosen to decide who will go first and which group is next and so on. The result turned out that the violin group was first, then the guitar, then the piano and last flute. We start the rehearsal but some did not get their turn. I did get my turn. I played more than 1 scale and then played my composition. I think I must to practise more of my composition, especially the left hand. For next week, I also must to learn for the quiz I missed last time when I did not come.

Music Theory class
We start class one week later because last Thursday, we had the PTC (parent teacher conference) which made all students to have their holiday ; no lesson. Today, we start our lesson by doing notes by hand and then use them in another song that is different than the one we did last time. Then we did them 2 by 2. First comes Jeffrey and Bernard, then Viena and , then Juan and Ais, then Sonya and Daniel, then Dariel and Andrew, then Jennifer and Mutia, then Keisya and Karina, then Lee and Jik, then Min ji and Jacintha, then Ferris and Algrio, then Jennie and Chiara and last Hyun Joo and Hyun Jong. For next lesson, we must to practise for the assessment.

In piano class, we were told what to play for our assessment, which is one scale and our own composition. The scale will be chosen on the assessment day so I must learn all the scales. For the composition, Mr. Herry liked how I put variations on my left hand. But I must to memorize my song and play it more fluently next time. After that, we listen to a melody with 4 bars and we must write them down on our music notebook to train our listening skill. I did all correct.

Music Theory Class
Today in theory class, we learn how to say notes using our hands. We did C-B using one hand together. After that, the one who sits on the front row do that one by one. For the second row, they were told to do that with both hands. Some of them were very good but some weren't. Then, we use that to 'play' lightly row song. At first we did it together. Then, each group was to do that in front. The guitar group went first. For each member of the guitar group, two person observe how many he did wrong. Then the guitar group judge the violin, the flute then judge the piano group and then some of the students judge the flute group. I did none wrong, Sonya was the one who judge me. Then we were told that the development workbook will be sent. I plan to do it today and send it before Thursday to get extra marks.

Music Class
Today, I was sick so I was absent for the whole day. So, I asked my friends what did they do in music class. They said that they had the test but there were some additional questions on inversions. But the history part was the same. So I think it will be quite easy. But I will still learn for this quiz so that I am ready for a catch-up quiz next session. I should understand about them and memorize them.

Music Theory Class
Today we have a music theory quiz about chords, scales, inversion and also classical and popular music and its composers. Ithink I did not do the first part (classical and popular music) well because I know only a bit about them. But for the second part, I think it is quite well since I know them and have opened the website www.teoria.com given by the teacher. Then, we disucss the quiz together as a class. I think I got more than 3 questions wrong for the first part but I don't know about the second part. So, I will improve this on the next quiz on Thursday. After that, we checked our blog; whether we have updated it or not. My blog has not been checked on whether I have updated it. But I have already updated it and later on will update more. For now, I have to concentrate on the test on Thursday.

Music Theory Class
Today in theory class, our scores on the assessment and hw was given. I got 10 for my assessment but a ‘C’ on my hw. I must to learn more about scales, chords and their inversions. Then, Mr. Herry taught us about the key signatures for each scale: major and minor and their related scales. I learned that major and minor key signatures are related. For next lesson, I must learn about this and scales because there may be a test on Tuesday.

We were asked to hear 3 melodies and write it down in our music books. Then, we played a minor harmonic scale. I played the B minor harmonic scale with 2 octaves in one way and another 2 octaves contrary and then back. I did some mistakes so I must practice it at home. For next lesson, I must learn this scale and memorize my song because we will have a practical exam where we must to memorize our own song.

The other group (guitar and flute) were given time to practice for their assessment today. Before this, Mr. Herry checked who hasn’t done their tasks including midi and finale. The assessment started with Min Ji playing piano, then the flute and last guitar. I watched them and I think most of them had done quite good in their assessment. Next week, Tuesday, we will have a music theory test about G clef, F clef, chords inversions. One website is given for us to study this.

Music Theory Class
Today we did the assessment for piano and violin. I was fourth to perform. At first, I was nervous because I have just fixed the melody the day before and now must to perform. But I think that overall I did well in the assessment. It was better than the melody before I changed it. For next lesson, it is the guitar and flute’s turn to have their assessment.

Music Theory Class
In theory class today, we checked our projects which is finale first, then the midi. My projects aree both completed and recieved by Mr. Herry. I sent them all through email and was replied 'recieved and noted' from Mr. Herry. Then, our homeworks were given/submitted. Mines were already submitted last session. Then, we discussed the problems in our homework: scales, 7 chords and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd inversion of them. After that, we guessed some songs that were played. For homework, we have to update our blog by tonight.

In this piano class, I rehearse all of our songs and nobody was allowed to practice by themselves. we must give feedbacks to our friends on their composition. For Viena, I said that her melody is good. For Jacintha, I said that her melody was also interesting, it sounds good. For Karina, I liked her left hand variation. For Jennie, I said that it would be better if there is dynamic. For MinJi, I said that it should be played more fluently. My friends give me feedbacks that it would be better if I played it more fluently and with dynamic. Viena said that this melody that I made was better than the last one. Feedback from Mr. Herry is that it would be better if thhe melody was played one octave higher. So, for next lesson, I will change my melody one octave higher and correct it in finale too. I will then email the finale to Mr. Herry and practice my melody at home.

Today, after checking those who don't bring their resources, we discussed our finale hw. Then, we fill in our reflection on our singing of 'Gundul Pacul' last week. After that, Mr. Herry show the class how to operate finale, its notes, lyrics and bars. For next lesson, I must to email my composition which is already in finale with lyrics, and also find 5 midi files of the composer with the saame letter of our name/last name and convert 1 into finale file. I plan to search on Kuhlau's songs. This homework's due date was changed because the instruction wasn't that clear at first.

Today ,we sing one song from either 'La Bamba' or 'What a Wonderful World'. I picked 'La Bamba'. We did the singing 2 by 2. I think my voice was too soft so next time, I'll make my voice louder. For next lesson, we have a homework of finding midi file of a classical composer and finale sofware.

Today, we sang 2 by 2 the song 'Gundul Pacul'. Then, we wrote the composition that we make into a separate piece of paper. Last, we sang the song 'La Bamba' and learn a new song, 'What a Wonderful World'. For next lesson, we have a western singing assessment. For today, I think I did quite well.

In piano theory class today, we wrote notes from C till the higher C for 4 octaves. Then, we were asked to fill in a worksheet and I had 3 wrongs. Then we sang 'Gundul Pacul' together after that we learn a new song 'La Bamba'. Our music book was then collected. For nest lesson, we should be familiar to 'La Bamba'.

In class today, I make the chordds into staccato pattern and practice it. At first, I am confused which pattern I should use but then Mr. Herry suggested to use the staccato one. So, I decide to use that one because I think it sounds better too. For next lesson, I should practise the chord and melody.

Music Theory Class
In theory class today, our homework about AA'BA', AA'BB', ABB'A was checked. Some of my classmate's work was written in the whiteboard and played in the piano. Then, according to our instrument group, we sang the scale in front and last, sang the song 'Gundul Pacul'. After that, Mr. Herry checked whether we already bought the 'finale' program. My CD was borrowed. For next lesson, I have to resend my development booklet because Mr. Herry do not find any attachment in my email.

In theory class, I learn about musical form of pop song which is what differs from classical music and other music. Then we write a 16 bar melody with the pattern AA'BA' like the song 'Ode Joy'. I think I did quite well in making this. Our homework is to make with other forms including anothher with AA'BA'. They are AA'BA', AA'BB', ABB'A'.

Music Theory Class
Today is the last day for term 1 of music theory. We were assessed by singing the Indonesian song 'Indonesia Pusaka' one by one. It was based on alphabet order so I am almost the last one. Because of this, I went home late. Before the assessment, Mr. Herry discussed about the music development workbook which was a homework due Monday, 14 September 2009 by email. He showed us how to open the student desk too. For the singing, I think that my voice wasn't loud enough. But overall, it was okay. I plan to download the development workbook after this.

I am satisfied with all of my scores overall. For next session, we must to sing an Indonesian song which is 'Indonesia Pustaka' and then we will be given a development workbook to be done. This session, I also asked about the quiz given to the class on Thursday, which I am absent. Mr. Herry said that I don't need to do the quiz because it does not include for the scores on report.

Music Theory Class
Today, I watched the other classmates, who haven't been assessed last week, perform. They were those in woodwind class, 2 person from violin and one from piano, who was absent last week. I think they all perform good. Then, Mr. Herry talked about our assessment which is to fill in some kind of reflection booklet and sing the song 'Indonesia Pusaka'.

Music Theory Class
Today in music class, we did the assessment. The first group to be assessed was the guitar group. Each person will present a song that they have learned and that will be assessed based on their posture, abilities and effort. After guitar was my group, the piano. I played my sonata today. I think that I played it well although I made some mistakes. My friend said that I made two mistakes. But overall, it was okay. After my group, comes the violin group. But only some of the people in violin get the chance to be assessed today. The woodwind group must wait next week for their chance.

I think that I played it well although I made some mistakes. My friend said that I made two mistakes. But overall, it was okay. After my group, comes the violin group. But only some of the people in violin get the chance to be assessed today. The woodwind group must wait next week for their chance.

Music Theory Class
Today, we rehearse the song we chose for assessment in front of the class. But only some of us got the chance to, I did rehearse my song. I think that I still need practise on the fingerings of the third page and also some of the trill. Then, Mr. Herry showed us what to do and include in our reflection on blog. So for homework, we need to make a blog showing our reflection of music class, and of course, I need to practise my song.

In our practical session, each of us was to play our sonatine/sonatas again. I don't have to play it again since I have played my song at the theory session. Then, because we still have extra time, we practised our listening skill. Mr. Herry played some notes and we must to play it on another piano following the same notes and rhythm. Then, he played several notes and we must to say each of the notes he played. I think that I did well on the listening practise today. I played and say the notes correctly.

Music Theory Class
We did the presentation we made on popular vs classcal music by group. My group presentate the third. Comment from Mr. Herry was that the outline was good, the music was also good. But he thinks that it would be better to attach the music rather than playing at the end of the presentation. But, he thought that the contentt of our group is best especially the comparison of popular music and classical music. That's why we got an "A" for our presentation, the highest.

Today, we play our sonatas in preparation for our assessment next week. I was asked to memorize the song. Other than that, I need to practise more and concentrate on the fingering and trill. I felt that the fingering is important to be practised so the song will go fluently. So, I will correct the fingering.

Music Theory Class
Today, we sang "Hari Merdeka" and was distributed the song "Berkibarlah Benderaaku" in preparation for our Independence day. Then, we were asked to compose a song together as a class with the given chords. I think the song that we compose together was actually nice. After that, we must compose our own song using the same chords. I was asked to make a better one because the first one has too many quarter notes on them.

Today, we played the same sonatine/sonata again. I was asked to correct the fingering of a part of the song and also practise the trill. Music Theory Class
Today, we were asked to make a group presentation due next week about Classical vs. Popular music. My group consist of 6 person that is: Me, Viena, Jennie, Jacintha, Karina and Ferris. I did submit my booklet that I made about FR Kuhlau. I think that the booklet I made had lots of information about him which is interesting. For example, how he lost his right eye in an accident. Then we were asked to make a simple melody based on C, F and G chords. I think my melody was simple yet well done.

In piano session, we play our sonatine/sonata again. I finished playing the whole song. After playing, I felt that although the beginning of the song was okay, I still need to improve some parts, increase the tempo and try to memorize it.

Music Theory Class
Since it is almost independence day, we were asked to write the lyrics of "Hari Merdeka" on our journal, dictated from the teacher. After writing, we sang the song together. Then, we wrote C major scale, minor and minor harmonic on our notebooks. Now I know the difference between major and minor, which is the structure of it.

In music class, I submitted the little booklet I made on Vanessa Anne Hudgens. Then, the teacher picked 3 booklets randomly and ask the owner to talk a bit about it. I didn't get the chance to talk about my booklet but I think the booklet was good and the information I gave was clear enough. For homework, we must to research about a classical composer which has the same first or last letter in his/her name as ours. I decide to research on FR. Kuhlau, who has the same last letter in his name.

In music theory class today, we discuss on what artist we will research about since it is still due next Wednesday. Then, Mr. Herry taught us notes in G clef and F clef which I wrote on my music notebook. Last, we were shown about the music clubs and ACP. We watched a movie of someone playing trumpets. I think that the trumpets sound good. I was quite interested in the trumpet but decided to focus on learning the piano.

Music Theory Class
Today, we discuss our homework of researching popular music. We were divided into four groups based on our instrument classes. Our job was to summarize our homeworks and present it in front of the class. We were then asked to answer questions given from Mr. Herry about other's group presentation. Last, we sang "Heal the World" and was given homework to research one popular music artist and memorize a part of "Heal the World". I think my group presentation was all in all okay. We did gather enough information for this.

Music Theory Class
In music theory class today, there was a new student. He was asked to introduce himself and then we sang the song 'Heal the World'. At first, we sing it together as a class but later, we were divided into groups of 3 and 4 to sing it in front of our class.My group was me, Viena, Jennie and Karina. I think our group sang too softly. We need to be louder next time in our singing. For homework, we were asked to research about popular music and bring it next session.

Today in practical class, each of us were asked to play scale from C major to B major. I feel that I did well in playing the scales but I must to cut my fingernails next session. Long fingernails can make it difficult for me to play. So, I will cut my fingernails as soon as possible.

Today, our class were separated into different instrument classes. Some of us were assessed wince the woodwind class has no one in it. We also discussed and wrote the rules and regulations in music class. The rules include:
1. Be quiet when entering music room and greet teachers. Make sure you are aware of your tidiness, check your uniform. Please put your shoes on the shelves and enter the room with necessary tools only.
2. The necessary tools are:
-student journal
-writing materials
-music book
-music folder
3. Raise your hand if you want to ask or need something to the teacher
4. Be proactive, say only positive words.
